Recently the Safety Partnership has directed the IEC to begin collecting the learnings from Serious Injury or Fatality potential. By September the IEC hopes to have a collection of recent incidents where nobody was hurt, but the potential was very high for a fatality or serious injury.
Watch for a communication about the launch of this new capability in the IEC database!
Thanks to everyone who signed up for an information session at our June 2017 Roadshow!
Even our scheduled IEC Working at Heights class got the personal touch with instructor IEC Jody shown coming back down from the top of the demonstration trailer!
Monthly Safety Topics can be delivered to your employees in any order throughout the year. The idea is to have covered all of the Safety Topics by the end of 2016. There is a calendar on the IEC website that gives a suggestion of how you might cover all of these topics in the next 11 months.
Here is a copy of this calendar:

Here’s someone that arrived for safety training at the IEC last month in a most unusual vehicle! It’s called a Slingshot and it looks like fun as long as you wear all of your safety gear!
IEC staff are back after Christmas break with regular scheduled training. We were able to train a number of workers over the holidays by request and that worked out very well.
Looking forward to all enjoying a safe workplace in 2016 where nobody gets hurt!
Debbie, Charlotte and Kim showing some Christmas spirit on the last day of regular classes here at the IEC. If you require training over the Christmas break, call our after-hours training phone number which is found on our outgoing telephone message system.
A Safety Partnership Subject Matter Expert team was created to work on a number of safety initiatives over the last few months. These initiatives were chosen based on the 2015 Injury Reports which showed a large number of injuries were to hands and fingers as well as many injuries from slips, trips and falls in icy winter conditions.
As a result of this good work, resources have been made available to all Members through the IEC database Portal. These resources include:
- Hands & Fingers Safety Resources
- Winter Materials – slips, trips and falls
These materials would help enhance your safety programs already in place or reinforce the kinds of safety measures that would help reduce injuries in the future as we get back into winter conditions. Videos will soon be added that could be used in safety meetings and for other learning opportunities.
